Goals, vision and perspective

The purpose of creating the field of Plant Protection is to educate people who, in addition to having scientific and technical knowledge of agriculture, basic sciences of Plant Protection, sciences related to recognizing and fighting against plant pathogens and pests, environmental protection and what is called sustainable agriculture today. to learn theoretically and practically so that they can be in agricultural training centers, research centers (National Plant Medical Research Institute), government and semi-government departments (Agricultural Jihad, Forestry Organization, Rangelands and Watershed Management of the whole country, Parks and Green Space Organization , Environmental Protection Organization), the non-governmental sector (plant medicine clinics and fertilizer and poison distribution companies, etc.) as an executive or research expert of service origin.

According to the educational regulations of the undergraduate course approved by the Supreme Planning Council, the length of the undergraduate course in plant medicine is four years, and graduates of this course can continue their studies until obtaining the latest degrees if they have the necessary conditions due to the existence of graduate courses in agricultural entomology and plant pathology. . Among the studied topics that are taught and researched in the postgraduate course of the group, the following can be mentioned:

- Department of agricultural entomology: ecology and biological control of insects, physiology and toxicology of insects, genetics and biosystematics of insects and biosystematics of ticks.

- Department of plant pathology: mycology and fungal diseases of plants, virology and plant viral diseases, plant pathogenic prokaryotes, plant nematodology and biological control of plant pathogens.
