Goals, Vision and Outlook
The Plant Breeding and Biotechnology Group was separated from the Agriculture Group in 2009 and was formed with the aim of training students who could work as experts in various areas of crop production by learning the latest relevant sciences and techniques. This group first started by accepting students in the Bachelor's degree in Agriculture and Plant Breeding. Then, in 2009, the group accepted students in the Master's degree in Plant Breeding and in 2005, in the Master's degree in Agricultural Biotechnology. Subsequently, in 2012, it accepted students in the PhD degree in Plant Breeding with a focus on Genetics and Biometrics and in 2013, in the PhD degree in Agricultural Biotechnology.
In terms of the educational aspect, the education and training of scientific experts and their presence in the country's higher education centers and research institutions are considered to be the main needs of the country's agricultural sector in order to achieve self-sufficiency and food security. In the research aspect, the main program of this group is to target research and postgraduate theses to solve the agricultural problems of the region and the country. This program aims to develop scientific collaborations with the governor's office, the provincial Agricultural Research Organization, and other universities and research centers in the country.
