Higher education in Sistan began in 1359 with the establishment of an agricultural school. After the cultural revolution in 1363, plant products and in 1367 livestock products were established. In 1369, this educational school was converted into a college according to the needs of the region, and since 1370, it accepted students in the bachelor's degree in animal science and agriculture. Now this faculty includes 8 educational groups that attract talented students in bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees.

The educational activity of the faculty started from the second semester of the academic year 2013-2015 with the admission of students in the associate degree in archeology and architecture, and then in the second semester of the academic year 2013-2015, the undergraduate degree in restoration of historical monuments and also the undergraduate degree in architecture began. With the admission of undergraduate students in Architectural Engineering in 2008 and Bachelor of Urban Engineering in 2009, this faculty now has five educational groups along with the field of acting. The foundation stone of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology was laid about 15 months after the establishment of Zabul University in February 1379 with the admission of 17 students in the two courses of rural civil engineering and mapping, and in August 1380 with the approval of the Higher Education Council of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology. Engineering was officially established. Now, the technical and engineering faculty with more than fifty faculty members has five educational groups: civil engineering, mechanics, electricity, computer and mapping, which are also active in the fields of civil engineering, civil engineering, water and electricity, and power in graduate studies. has it. The development of the higher education system in Sistan region reached its peak with the transformation of the Faculty of Agriculture into Zabul University in 1378. Before that and from 1376, Zabul University started accepting students in the field of Arabic language and literature, then in 1378 and at the same time as the establishment of Zabul University, the field of Persian language and literature was also added to it. In line with the development of the higher education system in Sistan region, the Faculty of Literature and Humanities was finally officially established in 1379. Currently, there are 10 educational groups and 10 undergraduate study programs and 5 master's study programs in the Faculty of Literature and Humanities. This faculty currently has 65 faculty members (9 associate professors, 32 assistant professors, and 24 instructors), 11 experts in the educational department, 8 administrative and service staff, 1,510 undergraduate students, and 97 master's students.
Sistan and Baluchistan province is the largest province in the country in terms of size, and the variety of climate and special geographical location have provided the possibility of various agricultural and livestock productions in this province for a long time. Due to the large livestock population, it was necessary to open a veterinary school in this province. The purpose of establishing this faculty is to provide specialized and skilled manpower to produce science and provide health, treatment and research services in various fields of veterinary sciences and maintaining, developing and providing health. Currently, this faculty accepts students in general veterinary doctorate courses in day and night courses, master's degree in veterinary parasitology, master's degree in bacteriology, master's degree in health and food control, and part-time bachelor's degree in laboratory science.
Faculty of Basic Sciences of Zabul University was established in 1380. Acceptance of students in the field of biology in animal, plant and general trends since 1375, in the field of mathematics in pure and applied trends since 1379 and 1388 respectively, and in the field of chemistry in pure trends since 1380 and applied trends since 2009 began. Until 1380, the mentioned fields were under the supervision of the department of basic sciences of the university, in February 1380, with the establishment of the Faculty of Basic Sciences, the mentioned fields were transferred to this faculty. The field of statistics was added in October 2005 and the field of physics in October 2009. Also, this faculty accepts students in the fields of biology-genetics and chemistry-analysis since 2009, in the field of organic chemistry, in the master's degree since 1390, and also in the field of biology-plant physiology since 2013.
Faculty of Natural Resources of Zabul University was officially recognized in March 1378 with the final approval of the Council for the Development of Higher Education. Currently, this faculty has three educational groups in the fields of fisheries, environment and wood and paper industries at the undergraduate level and natural resources engineering - reproduction and breeding of aquatic animals, natural resources engineering - fishery products processing and natural resources engineering - multi-structure wood products. He works in the master's degree and also in the wood and paper doctorate.
The Faculty of Water and Soil was established in 2009. Currently, it has departments of water engineering and soil science, and pasture and watershed engineering. The faculty currently has about thirty full-time faculty members and scholarship students at the doctoral level. Currently, about 550 students are studying in this faculty in three levels of education: bachelor's, master's and doctorate.
