Two articles by the university faculty members were published in the 14th issue of 2024 of the prestigious journal Scientific Reports, a sub-group of Nature publications.
The first article, titled "Machine learning-aided enhancement of white tea extraction efficiency using hybridized GMDH models in microwave-assisted extraction," was published by Dr. Mostafa Khajeh, Professor Tamma, and Dr. Mansour Ghaffari Moghadam, Associate Professor of the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Basic Sciences, Dr. Jamshid Piri (Assistant Professor) of the Department of Water Engineering, Faculty of Water and Soil, and Ms. Afsaneh Bahkard, an expert in the university's central laboratory, in collaboration with a researcher at Istanbul University, Turkey. In this study, researchers used a new method of microwave-assisted extraction to investigate the best conditions for extracting beneficial compounds from white tea. The results of this study showed that combining this method with the harmony search algorithm significantly increases the accuracy of predicting the therapeutic properties of tea. These findings can be used in the production of higher quality and more efficient products based on white tea.
The second article, titled "Designing a reliable machine learning system for accurately estimating the ultimate condition of FRP-confined concrete," was published by Dr. Behrouz Kashtegar, a full professor in the Department of Civil Engineering and head of the "Simulation-Based Modeling, Reliability, and Optimization" research laboratory at the university, in collaboration with researchers from universities and research centers in Australia, South Korea, and Vietnam. In this research, researchers designed a reliable machine learning system to accurately estimate the ultimate condition of FRP-confined concrete. It is worth noting that the "Simulation-Based Modeling, Reliability, and Optimization" research laboratory received its operating license from the university's Research Council in January of last year, and during its 9-month period of operation, more than 7 Q1 articles by members of this research laboratory have been published in reputable journals.
