Holding the Fifth National Conference on "Irrigation Deficit and Use of Unconventional Waters in Agriculture in Dry Areas with Emphasis on the Role of Water Users in Adapting to Water Deficits"
Given the increasing population and the increasing need for water resources to supply food on the one hand, and the expansion of the water scarcity crisis in the country and its direct impact on agriculture and food security on the other hand, the need to use alternative water resources, such as unconventional waters, is felt more than ever. These resources, if properly managed and sustainably exploited, can be a suitable alternative to meet water needs in arid and semi-arid regions. In the meantime, water users, especially farmers, play a key role in the success of water scarcity adaptation programs. Awareness and education of users, along with their active participation in decision-making processes and the implementation of new solutions, can have a significant impact on improving productivity and protecting water resources.
In this regard, considering the mission of Zabol University as a leading institution in research and development and technological innovations in the field of agriculture and water resources, this complex, in cooperation with the Center for Management of Water Scarcity and Unconventional Waters of Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, will hold the Fifth National Conference on "Irrigation Scarcity and Use of Unconventional Waters in Agriculture in Dry Areas with Emphasis on the Role of Water Users in Adapting to Water Scarcity" on February 17 and 18, 1403. This conference is a good opportunity for experts, researchers, and users to gather to share knowledge and experiences and examine the challenges and solutions in this field. Topics such as management of unconventional water resources, multidimensional study of water scarcity and unconventional water, food security, participatory agricultural management, sustainable development, water governance in dry areas, and hydropolitics in border basins will be discussed and examined in this conference. As a dynamic platform for establishing national and regional cooperation in the field of unconventional water resources management and sustainable agriculture in arid regions, this conference can help develop innovative and effective solutions to address the water scarcity crisis.
Therefore, all researchers, professors, students, water and agriculture activists, and users are invited to make a valuable contribution to the scientific advancement of this conference by presenting research papers, participating in scientific-specialized meetings, and exchanging experiences.
