Holding the Fifth National Conference on "Irrigation Deficit and Use of Unconventional Waters in Agriculture in Dry Areas with Emphasis on the Role of Water Users in Adapting to Water Deficits"

Considering the increase in population and the increasing need for water resources for food supply on the one hand and the spread of the water shortage crisis in the country and its direct impact on agriculture and food security on the other hand, the necessity of using alternative water sources, such as unconventional waters, is felt more and more. These sources, if properly managed and used sustainably, can be a suitable alternative to meet water needs in arid and semi-arid areas. Meanwhile, water users, especially farmers, play a key role in the success of drought adaptation programs. The awareness and training of users, along with their active participation in decision-making processes and the implementation of new solutions, can have a significant effect on improving the productivity and protection of water resources.
