According to the Public Relations Department of Zabol University, a comprehensive memorandum of understanding on scientific, educational and research cooperation was signed between Zabol University, as one of the scientific hubs of the east and southeast of the country, and the General Directorate of Renovation, Development and Equipping of Schools in Sistan and Baluchestan Province. This memorandum, which is designed with the aim of establishing an effective platform, institutionalizing mutual communication and strengthening cross-sectoral cooperation in the fields of consulting, scientific, educational and research, was signed during an official ceremony by Dr. Mohammad Rakuei, President of Zabol University, and Eng. Meysam Lakzai, Director General of the General Directorate of Renovation, Development and Equipping of Schools in Sistan and Baluchestan Province. The signing of this strategic document is considered a milestone in the convergence of academic capacities with the executive needs of the field of educational infrastructure in a region with specific climatic conditions and significant geographical diversity. Among the major goals of this memorandum are the organization and systematization of joint research, educational and executive cooperation between Zabol University and the General Directorate of Renovation of Schools in the province, which will be pursued in the form of multiple and practical axes. One of the main focuses of this collaboration is conducting field and laboratory research in the field of designing and developing new, lightweight, durable, and cost-effective structures for educational spaces, so that these structures can be safe and sustainable against natural and man-made hazards, including strong seasonal winds (such as the 120-day winds of Sistan), torrential rains, dust storms, and earthquakes.
In addition, implementing original and applied research projects in the form of postgraduate theses (master's and doctoral degrees) focusing on the climatic architecture of schools, utilizing modern construction technologies such as prefabricated systems, indigenous-resistant materials; Optimization of energy consumption in educational spaces by relying on renewable energies (especially solar energy, given the high radiation potential in the province) and the use of modern project management methods and quality control in the construction process are other essential clauses of this memorandum. In terms of developing human and scientific capital, the parties have emphasized cooperation in holding targeted study opportunity courses for faculty members of the University of Zabol in the fields of civil engineering, architecture, and construction management so that faculty members can become closely acquainted with current issues in school renovation and provide scientific solutions. Also, providing specialized internship opportunities and skill development for students of related disciplines in the construction projects of the General Directorate of School Renovation will pave the way for employability and knowledge transfer from the academic environment to the field of practice. Finally, cooperation in holding various short-term training courses, practical specialized workshops, scientific-executive meetings, and joint seminars with the presence of academic and executive experts is foreseen in this memorandum as one of the most effective platforms for exchanging knowledge and experience. Experts believe that the full implementation of this memorandum can be a successful model for linking the university system with executive bodies in the field of educational infrastructure in other provinces of the country.
