Sistan and Baluchistan is the largest province in Iran, in terms of size, diversity of climate and geographical position. Crops and livestock of all varieties have been produced in this province since ancient times. Due to the livestock population it was necessary for the State to open the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. The school was established to train professionals and skilled specialists who can generate knowledge and provide health services to ranchers. The Institute of Veterinary Medicine in University of Zabol was established in 1992. Initially this Institute admitted students for associate degrees in veterinary medicine. The institute was promote to Faculty In 2007 and in the same year the Council for Development of Higher Education approved it. Currently, the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine admits students for doctorate of veterinary medicine and bachelors of laboratory sciences.
